El Capitán Serrano & Brie Sandwich with Honey Drizzle
By Angela Sanchez de Bravo
Ingredients:
  • Serrano ham, or Iberico or prosciutto
  • Brie
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Red onion slices, optional
  • A nice, soft crusty French baguette
  • Honey for the drizzle
  • All ingredients are to your taste
Preparation:
This is so easy and SO good. It is meant to be more like a panini type sandwich, if you have the tool. But it works just as well on a stove top grill or nonstick pan. Just so you can toast and flip the sandwich. The original calls for Spanish ham, Serrano or Iberico, but if you can’t find it, prosciutto works just as well. Cut your baguette diagonally to the size that you want. Toast both sides to about 2/3 of the desired toastiness, then leave open face on the grill. Place the brie and basil on one side and the prosciutto with honey drizzle on the other; close and press the bread down until the cheese is melted. Toast as desired. Add Merlot and enjoy!
